Music Cafe
Music Café meets from 2 till 4 o’clock on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. The afternoon is a very informal get-together of people who feel the advantage of “a bit of company” and enjoy music and a chat.
We have visiting speakers who give insight to their musical interests, musicians who share their talents, and we are entertained by choirs, duettists and folk groups. There are quizzes and table activities which stir “the grey matter” and also engender a lot of fun. However, whenever there is an opportunity to sing – we sing! A singalong session is an essential part of the afternoon and, whether they be wartime songs, songs from the shows, action songs or rounds, everyone joins in with enthusiasm - and we actually make a decent sound!
The “café” part of the afternoon is equally as important and, to the accompaniment of our invaluable pianist, we have refreshments and good chat over a cuppa. This has become the opportunity to make new friends and renew old acquaintances. It is also the noisiest part of our time together, but in a good way!
So, if you feel like getting out and having a change of scenery, Music Café might be just the tonic. Having read what is on offer why not give it a go? We will be delighted to see you.
